On Thursday, August 6, 2026, Tuong Ngoc, in collaboration with HAI (Kokyu Alcohol Kogyo Co., Ltd.) - one of Japan's leading specialty ingredient manufacturers—successfully hosted the workshop "Innovation – Technology – Breakthrough" at Tuong Ngoc's office, 82 Than Van Nhiep Street, Binh Trung Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. The event provided customers with valuable industry insights, innovative formulation solutions, and hands-on technical experiences.

HAI's experts shared a comprehensive overview of Japan's cosmetic market trends for 2025 – 2026. The market is rapidly evolving toward products that celebrate natural beauty while emphasizing comfort, convenience, and personalization. To address these emerging demands, the workshop explored a range of advanced ingredient solutions:

- Silicone (D5) Alternative Ingredients: Discover HAI's portfolio of Ester oils that closely replicate the volatility, silky feel, and lightweight sensory profile of silicone oils, providing an ideal solution for sustainable, silicone-free cosmetic formulations.
- Optimizing Lipsticks & Foundations: Learn how Esters with different viscosities and polarities enhance gloss, improve moisturization, boost pigment dispersion, and increase product adhesion for superior makeup performance.
- Breakthrough Solutions for Sunscreen Products: Introducing AMREPS Ester Wax, designed to effectively enhance SPF and UVA-PF performance while offering excellent formulation stability. HAI also presented Ester oils with outstanding solubilizing power for solid UV filters, ensuring long-term product stability.
- Next-Generation Makeup Removers: Advanced cleansing solutions capable of effectively removing long-wearing makeup—including foundations, eyeliners, and lipsticks—while maintaining skin hydration and protecting the skin's natural barrier.
Lipstick samples formulated with HAI Ester ingredients demonstrated enhanced gloss and moisturization.
Participants experienced firsthand the smooth texture and color payoff of lipsticks formulated with HAI Ester technology.
- From UV Science to Optimized Sunscreen Formulation
Tuong Ngoc also presented a comprehensive perspective on sunscreen development, reinforcing the message that "SPF is not everything."
To help customers better understand sunscreen efficacy, Tuong Ngoc explained the significance of key performance indicators, including SPF (UVB protection), UVA-PF (UVA protection), Critical Wavelength (broad-spectrum protection), water resistance, and photostability.
The presentation further explored the interactions among formulation components—from selecting appropriate UV filters (organic and inorganic), emulsifier systems, and film-forming agents to enhance SPF performance and water resistance. In addition, Tuong Ngoc highlighted the importance of pigment dispersants and particle size control techniques to achieve transparent formulations without white cast while creating a continuous and effective protective film on the skin.
- Hands-on Experience at Tuong Ngoc Laboratory
One of the workshop's most anticipated highlights was the guided laboratory tour, offering participants an immersive and practical experience.
At the laboratory, attendees had the opportunity to observe and actively participate in key stages of sunscreen formulation and evaluation:
- Formulation Practice: Under the guidance of HAI specialists, participants observed the preparation of sunscreen formulations and gained a deeper understanding of ingredient interactions and protective film formation.
- Screening & Formula Optimization: Using the SPF-290AS UV Transmission Analyzer, participants evaluated formulations, significantly shortening development time and enabling early-stage optimization.
- International Standard Validation: Participants directly conducted SPF testing and evaluated product performance using the LS1000-4S-009 Solar Simulator, verifying sunscreen efficacy in accordance with ISO 23675 and ISO 24443 international standards.
Customers observed the SPF testing procedure using the SPF-290AS system at Tuong Ngoc Laboratory.
