TUONG NGOC INVESTS IN A MODERN SUNSCREEN EVALUATION EQUIPMENT SYSTEM – ENHANCING RESEARCH CAPABILITIES

31/07/2026

In the context of the cosmetics industry increasingly focusing on scientific data and evaluation methods according to international standards, research and product testing capabilities have become core elements creating competitive value. With sustainable development orientation, Tuong Ngoc International Investment Co., Ltd. has invested in a specialized equipment system to serve the research and evaluation of sunscreens, gradually perfecting its R&D foundation and improving the quality of technical services for customers.

Three specialized systems are designed to support the entire product development process, from formula structure research to determining sunscreen effectiveness using in vitro methods. Having a standardized evaluation process helps shorten product development time while enhancing the scientific basis of research and optimizing formulations.

VHX-X1 – DIGITAL MICROSCOPE

The KEYENCE VHX-X1 digital microscope is a new generation multi-functional observation and analysis system, comprehensively integrating observation, imaging, measurement, and analysis functions into a single device. Equipped with a high-resolution 4K CMOS sensor combined with a telecentric HR lens system, the VHX-X1 allows sample observation with magnification from 20 to 2000x, providing sharp images, a large depth of field, and superior surface detail visualization. In cosmetic research, the VHX-X1 allows visual observation of emulsions, evaluation of emulsion particle size and distribution, lamellar structure analysis, testing the dispersion of sunscreen particles, and monitoring structural changes during stability testing. Simultaneously, the device analyzes the microstructure of skin and hair, assessing the stratum corneum, pores, wrinkles, and hair epidermal structure before and after product use, providing visual evidence for research and demonstrating product effectiveness.

In addition, the device integrates many advanced technologies such as dynamic optical shading mode allowing 3D surface reconstruction like scanning electron microscopy (SEM), automatic illumination optimization, large-area image stitching, comprehensive focusing, and accurate 2D/3D measurement and analysis functions. With its ability to automate operating processes, reduce operation time, and support various sample types, the KEYENCE VHX-X1 is an ideal solution for research, quality control, and analysis in the cosmetics field.

LS1000-4S-009 – SOLAR RADIATION SIMULATION SYSTEM

The LS1000-4S-009 is a specialized Pre-Irradiation Solar Simulator designed to perform the pre-irradiation step in vitro sunscreen efficacy tests according to international standards such as ISO 24443, FDA In Vitro SPF, and COLIPA. The device uses a 1000 W Xenon Short Arc lamp, creating a radiation spectrum nearly equivalent to natural sunlight, allowing for accurate assessment of UVA protection and optical stability of sunscreen products.

The LS1000-4S-009 version is equipped with a 4-inch probe, allowing for simultaneous pre-irradiation of four PMMA panels, contributing to improved test efficiency and optimized research time. In addition, the device incorporates an automatic dose control system and a radiation sensor calibrated to NIST standards, allowing for precise control of UV dose, maintaining stable light intensity and high uniformity of the irradiated area, thereby reducing errors and increasing the repeatability of results.

SPF-290AS – UV SPECTRAL ANALYSIS SYSTEM

The SPF-290AS is a specialized UV transmittance spectrometer system for evaluating in vitro sunscreen effectiveness. It supports rapid and accurate determination of SPF, UVA-PF, critical wavelength, and other important optical parameters of sunscreen products. The device scans the spectrum in the 290–400 nm wavelength range, using a stable Xenon light source combined with an integrating sphere, a monochromator, and a highly sensitive optical detector to accurately measure the amount of UV transmitted through the sample, minimizing the effects of light scattering and improving the reliability of the results.

In addition, the system is equipped with WinSPF software capable of automatically collecting and processing data, supporting multiple calculation methods according to international standards, and integrating an automatic sample shifter to allow measurements at multiple locations on the same sample, increasing repeatability and reducing errors. The device is suitable for various product forms such as creams, lotions, gels, and sprays, and supports optical stability research, formulation efficacy evaluation, and quality control during product development. In particular, the SPF-290AS meets the latest standards such as ISO 23698:2024, ISO 23675:2024, ISO 24443, FDA In Vitro SPF, COLIPA, and Boots Star Rating, helping laboratories shorten research time, reduce in vivo testing costs, and improve the reliability of R&D data in the development of sunscreen products.
